Red Rock Canyon and L&L

On Saturday I had to go take a CPR class so that I can apply for school positions out here in Nevada. It was only suppose to go for an hour and a half maybe 2 hours, but it ended up talking 2 and a half hours! I was so bored! When I finally got out I got to go to JoAnn's which I've been looking forward too since there are only two in all of Las Vegas and they are both at least 20 min from our house and even the Walmarts don't carry fabric here. It was so crowded! Travis got in line while I was looking for the stuff I needed. By the time I got everything I needed and joined up with Travis we still had to wait at 5 more min. It was even worse when we left. After we got home we went out with Jesse, Lois, and little Caleb to Red Rock Canyon. We hiked up Ice Box Canyon, it was so cold!! The hike was pretty rocky and it was really long. It would probably be better during the summer, when you could jump in the water. We actually saw some stupid kids jumping in the water, it was ice cold! Before we got out of the canyon the water was starting to ice over it was that cold.

It looked sunny, but once we hit the canyon, it was so cold!

Travis got these sweet photos with his new HTC Evo. He loves it and I love the games! The camera is so nice though, 8 megapixles is crazy for phones is so awesome.

I know this tree is huge but it was still really scary to walk across!

Travis got this picture from up near the waterfall. Lois and I stayed at the bottom with Caleb since it was crazy to get up there. You can see us way down there. We are those little dots.

Getting dark, but so pretty!

On our way home, Jesse and Lois showed us that there was a L&L by the Costco and we were so excited! We got chicken katsu, I love the macaroni salad too! SOOO good! A great end to the day. I was so tired when we got home. Such a busy day, but lots of fun!

Couches and Car Rides

This weekend was great and terrible at the same time. Travis' dad, step-mom and brother came up from California to visit. This was great because Travis' dad got a new truck which is HUGE so when we bought new couches it was perfect for bringing them home. We've been sitting on a futon since we moved to Cedar City and it's been terrible. Those are the worst things ever! It started going flat a week after we bought it. So we got some sweet couches from Big Lots and we are soooo happy! Then on Saturday we went to the temple, which was great but we went with Travis' dad and step-mom and his step-mom's mom. The only problem is that his step-mom's mom drove (she's about 70) and she won't let anyone else drive her car and she won't take the highway. We live kind of far from the temple, about 35 min by the highway. And on our way there, she took a minor highway so we could get there on time for our session but on the way home she refused to take the highways. It took us 3 hours to get home! We did make two stops to get food and to drop in on some visiting family (which I'm not a big fan of anyway) so that takes out one hour. So what should be a 35 min drive took us 2 hours, with a very full car. I thought I was going to scream by the time we got home. It was terrible! It totally ruined the temple awesomeness. Never again! But at least I got to come home to these sweet couches. Now we just need some pillows for them.

And the pretty temple.

Snow in Las Vegas?

Yes, we had snow in Las Vegas on Monday. Luckily Travis woke me up on his way out to work and I got a picture before it all melted. But it looked liked a blizzard when it happened. And I thought we moved to the desert.

New Years 2011

We didn't do much for New Years this year. Travis thinks new years is boring because it's a holiday for drunks! I thought that was hysterical! We still had our sparkling cider and watched the fireworks. These were set off from our condos parking lot. Crazy.

Then we drove across the street to where it looks out on the strip and watched the fireworks. Next year I want to go down there, they block off the entire strip and set fireworks off the tops of all the major hotels and synchronize the colors. It was awesome! It was too far away to get a good picture, but this one looked pretty sweet anyway.

This last year has been pretty sweet: Travis got into grad school and he got a 4.0 his first semester, we moved to Cedar City, Travis got his first real accounting job, I got health insurance (yeah!), we moved to a sweet apartment in Las Vegas, and found out that I'm going to be an auntie again! A very exciting year and hopefully a more exciting one to come. Happy New Years!

Christmas in Lindon

We had such an awesome Christmas this year! The only stinky part was that Travis only got Friday off and it's a 6 hour drive from here to Lindon, so it was way too short, but we loved every minute of it! Unfortunately the snow didn't stay rain washed it all away.

Mom's tree is the best! But I love our funky one that we actually put all the presents under is really my favorite.

This was my favorite part of Christmas though, he is just the cutest little guy I've ever seen! He was so happy when we clapped for his Christmas Eve pajamas. He was so excited to open presents, he even helped pass some of them out, it was so great! And he is talking so much now too. It was so funny how he took to Travis, he always wanted to do just what he was doing and sit with him on the rocking chair.

Our pretty Christmas table and our amazing Beef Wellington! The best dinner ever and a Christmas tradition. Britton had a corn dog that was very hot! Isn't he so cute!

Christmas day the best. We always go a little crazy on Christmas, which includes wrapping until the wee hours of the night with mom and Jessie while we laugh hysterically because we are sooo tired. It's a great tradition.

Britton had the best Christmas of all, I made that little owl backpack for him and mom got him the rocking horse. He actually found the horse before Christmas, his dad John left him for a minute then came back but he was gone. But he could hear Britton laughing and screaming. John found Britton in my sister's closet ridding the horse. The best part of the whole thing was when John sent Jess a text saying "good news and bad news, Britton loves his Christmas present" We all died laughing.

Jess and I pulled together and got mom a sweet rocking chair, she loved it! And Taylor got a riding suit with a hat, it was awesome. We got to see a ton of family when we went to my cousins homecoming. We were sad when we had to leave so early but we had a great time. Merry Christmas!

Moving to Las Vegas!

I have a lot to catch up on, and every time I think about it I put it off, and around the holidays that's a bad idea because something else is always coming up. At the beginning of December though, we made our big move to Las Vegas! Travis got a job working for Enterprise Rent-a-Car as a staff accountant (all thanks to our good friends Jesse and Lois!) Travis is loving it, it's so nice to have a real job that relates to your major. He is still working on his masters though. He only has 5 classes left and can take them all online, so no big deal. I have to say that having a job with health insurance is a big bonus too! Travis has just been without coverage for a while now, I'm at least on my mom's plan (thank you Obama!) so we are so excited to have some real coverage now, without a huge deductible or outrageous restrictions. We are loving our new apartment too! It has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, is on the ground floor, has a garage (not attached), a dishwasher, and my favorite washer and dryer!! I haven't started looking for a job yet, we've still been trying to get settled this last month, and the last of the maintenance work should be done soon. We also really love Las Vegas. Everyone we told about the move kept saying "ewe" Las Vegas, but we are really happy to be back in a big city and away from small town nothingness. We love all the places to eat out and I love having store like Target back in my life. The only thing I'm not so thrilled about is that there are no JoAnn's close by, let alone any other fabric shops. Our Walmart doesn't even have a fabric center...I guess Nevadians aren't crafty. We were sad to leave our student married ward in Cedar City though. We had finally started getting to know people and making some great friends. We're in a family ward here, but it's a pretty young ward so we're excited about that.
